Machinist / Fitter  - Brisbane Based

We're busy and we need you!  An opportunity exists for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our North Brisbane based team on a full-time permanent basis.

Our new team member will be responsible for undertaking building, installation, servicing and ongoing maintenance on a range of end of line packaging equipment throughout Queensland.  This role offers invaluable experience and insight into the manufacturing industry for local as well as multinational corporations.

You will have the requisite ability, confidence and knowledge to:

  • Assemble and check mechanical assemblies prior to dispatch.

  • At times assume the lead role in the manufacture of new equipment. 

  • Have a proactive approach to problem solving and process improvement.

  • Provide feedback to the Mechanical Design team.

  • Communicate in a clear and professional manner, both oral and written.

  • Carry out field installation, commissioning and testing.

 

Qualifications / Skills Required

  • Completion of suitable trade training, such as Cert III Engineering - Mechanical Trade.

  • Driver’s License.

  • 3 years' experience in a similar role.

  • Mechanical fault finding experience.

  • Proven high mechanical aptitude.

  • Hands on technical experience installing end of line packaging equipment.

  • Competent using Office 365.

 

 Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Interpret drawings to build assemblies accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Recording of assembly build times.

  • Identifying and rectifying mechanical faults.

  • Creating and maintaining a positive working relationship with the team.

  • Contributing to equipment risk assessments.

  • Assisting with in-house trialling of manufactured equipment.

  • Completing periodic inspections of plant and equipment.

  • Working unsupervised.

  • Working flexible hours as required.

  • Ensuring all OH&S legislation, Company, Customer safety policies and procedures are considered and adhered to at all times.

  • Conducting on-site installations as part of a team.

  • Generating and completing safe work method statement (SWMS) prior to commencing site work.

  • Identifying and communicating updates and improvements to existing workplace procedures.
